Raw Chocolate Ganache Tart – May’s SABH

Im soooooo excited about this months Sweet Adventures Blog Hop! As the hostess with the mostess this month, I got to choose the theme, and as you guys are aware, I chose raw! There was a little bit of confusion around the theme, but its something I have been looking in to since going veggie. There really is a whole world out there of food techniques and beliefs that I hadn’t even fathomed. After watching a raw dessert being made on an episode of Veg, I knew I had to try it. Its looked perfectly fudgy and decadent, but was completely raw, completely vegan, and completely good for you!! I KNOW RIGHT?!?! So Raw Chocolate Ganache Tart – May’s SABH Adapted from The River Cottage Ingredients Base: 175g walnuts 125g almonds 1 tsp salt 200g dates. Filling: 4 medium sized ripe avocados 150g virgin coconut oil 200g raw cacao powder....

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen pretty much a day by day photo diary of our entire trip. If you don’t, get on there now and have a look! Chocolate peanut butter ice-cream

Remember a little while ago I made that Angelic Hot Fudge Sauce? Simple, warming, delicious – and funnily enough, for a SABH! Well using similar ingredients, I’m flipping the temperature dial to cold – and I mean fuh-reez-ing – because this months Sweet Adventures Blog Hop is……Licence to Chill! I don’t know about you guys, but every time I say it (even in my head), I kind of do a “cool dude” voice. Its hard to explain, but it happens. I’m not proud of it. Anyway, the Feb hop is hosted by the lovely Heather over at The Capers of the Kitchen Crusader, so you can head over to her blog to find out all the deets on entering. But in the mean time, let me tell you a little about this dessert. So I’m kind of still on that health thing (a little more so now as the...

Coconut and Mango Sago

Stud and I aren’t massive beach people. We’re both pretty pale, aren’t a fan of screaming people, I have a bit of a sand phobia, and Kev has seen one too many Jaws films to want to go in to the ocean too often. Dont get me wrong, I used to LOVE the beach! Spending many a childhood weekends down the south coast in Gerringong, with my entire family squeezed in to a caravan and hanging out at the beach pretty much every day. I love swimming in the ocean, I just don’t like getting burnt or getting sand in my shoes, or anywhere for that matter (no really, the sand thing is pretty bad. Its embarrassing really). I do however, love a good tropical dessert! It might be a dessert with tropical ingredients – gorgeous fruits, creamy coconuts, refreshing ices – or it might be something wonderfully light...

January SABH – Tropical Paradise

I feel like last year, Sydneysiders were robbed of a Summer. Sure, compared to your UK summer, we still have it pretty good! But when you put last summer next to all of our other ones, it was pretty weak. Sporadic rain (and not the good rain the cools you down after hot days), days that were cardi-worthy, beach-less days and balmy-less nights. It was really quite poor. This summer however, is proving to be pretty toasty indeed, with tomorrow set for around 45 degrees (on a school day though wish that above-40-degree rule was suited to work as well. Boooo!) Anyway, it really is the perfect weather or a gorgeous summer dessert! Enter this months Sweet Adventures Blog Hop, which is hosted by none other than moi…….Tropical Paradise But don’t fret Norther Hemisphere peeps! We know you’re braving the cold and dreaming of summer, so this is your...

Eggplant and choc-chunk cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting

When faced with an unusual challenge, or something that’s reasonably foreign to me, I do what most others do, I consult Google – the truth of all things in the universe! This challenge was the same. You see this month, JJ from 84th&3rd is our host for the November Sweet Adventures Blog Hop, and knowing JJ, I was prepared for something slightly (or extremely) left of centre. Boy did she throw us a curve ball. This months blog hop was Cake and Three Veg. Not too strange I hear you say? Pumpkin Pie, Carrot Cake, Beetroot Chocolate Mud Cake, easy! True, there are a number of dessert dishes out there that in fact include vegetables and they work well. I however, wanted to do something a little stranger shall we say? I wanted to live up to the challenge and so something that perhaps no one had done before....

Angelic hot fudge sauce

Sometimes we need a little balanced in our lives. Usually, once a month I like to indulge in a dessert that makes my thighs/hips/belly scream in terror and use said dessert for my Sweet Adventures Blog Hop. This month, I’m taking a step back, putting my hearing aid on, and listening to my body. This month, I’m doing a sugar free, dairy free, bad fat free dessert *queue dramatic music* Well not a complete dessert. You see this month’s theme is sauces. I’m getting a little saucy, in a very angelic way I know……..it’s not like me. But hey, balance is good right? This dessert is my healthy version of a banana split topping i.e. chocolate, nuts, honey – but you could really use it on anything, or in anything. So for more hop goodness, and to find out how you can join, head on over The Kitchen Crusader...

New York Style Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake

In New Yoooooork! Concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there’s nothing you can’t do. This cheesecake’s from New York, New York, New Yoooooork. With a US trip imminent, I’m more than a little excited to be heading to the land of the free, the home of the brave. The city of MOMOFUKU :D!!!!! New York was a must see on our list, so of course when I was deciding on my “Berry Nice to Meet You” for this months Sweet Adventures Blog Hop, it had to be a New York cheesecake. Because I’m in a New Yooork state of miiiiind. Ok. Fine. I’m done with the singing. Pre-blog I had baked a couple of cheesecakes but all pretty traditional. This time, I wanted chocolate, I wanted raspberry, I wanted chocolate base. Now any child of the 80’s will know what I mean when I say that last sentence...
