Bill’s – Darlinghurst

I had wanted to go to Bill’s for his famous ricotta hotcakes for, well, EVER! So when we stayed in Darlo the night of my hens, a hungover morning was prime time, or so I convinced Debs! Its like foodie fate I tells ya! A short walk to the café and it’s very much like someone’s house that’s been converted in to a café. They even have the community table with fresh flowers in what looks like it would be the dining room of Bill’s home. I adore this place and we haven’t even got a table yet! We waited about 15 minutes or so and were seated towards the back at a table for two. As much as I do love the community table, I’m too hungover to be exposed to other humans right now. Stick me in the corner. It’s for the best. There was talk of...

The Commons – Darlinghurst

As a follow on from the awesome tour that was Travelicious, we headed out for dinner and drinks at The Commons in Darlinghurst. If you didn’t know it was there, you’d probably walk past thinking it was a house party but as you walk through the gates and in to the venue, you are well aware, you’re in a Darlo bar. Wall to wall hipsters, low lighting and cocktails all round, it’s a great funky little place that prides themselves on their drinks. We headed downstairs to grab a cocktail each. The menu is quite extensive and it’s pretty hard to choose but the bar tenders were lovely and very patient. Being a massive girl, I wanted something sweet to kick off the evening. I actually can’t remember what I ordered (bad food blogger!) but it had orange juice in it so I thought it would be nice. It...

Time to Vino – Darlinghurst

It’s been a while since our last girl’s night and this time, we wanted to go big. Stud was out for the night so the girls and I decided a night out in Kings Cross was the way to go. Upon searching, I came across Time to Vino and thought the name suited us perfectly so booked immediately. Time to Vino is on the corner but the entrance is via Pennys lane and upon entry, is a very warm and inviting place. It’s actually really perfect for a date. The lighting is very soft and romantic and with their “Waiting for friends” menu (another way of stating Entrée or snacks), it would be perfect to get a few dishes and share. I arrived a little late with a few of the girls but the rest of our party were there and already enjoying some Vino which they all really...

Rambutan – Darlinghurst

Rambutan – Darlinghurst

Stud and I aren’t lovers of Thai food. Actually, that’s not true. When we eat it, we like it, but when every second restaurant in Sydney became Thai, I felt compelled to boycott. That said, we are going to Thailand for our honeymoon and I actually can’t wait to try everything while we are there. We just don’t go out to Thai much. Japanese is our cuisine of choice but this night, we were off to a friends birthday who is obsessed with Thai and I was excited to find it was Rambutan we were going to. I had heard good things and was really looking forward to trying what they had to offer. Again, as a big group, we went with the banquet which was pretty good value at $55 per person. First out was the Miang of smoked trout and grilled chilli eggplant relish. This dish baffled...
