This months Sweet Adventures Blog Hop (#SABH) is “Festive Favourites” of course. What else? and hosted by the lovely JJ from 84th&3rd. Head on over to her SABH post for details on how you can join the hop with a bunch of other awesome food bloggers get involved! Its too much fun!! Christmas is definitely my favourite holiday. It’s such a great time of year! Everyone is really festive and mostly drunk from all the Christmas parties lol – it’s jut a happy time. If I had my way, it would be Christmas all year round in our household. Stud has to reign me in a bit – much to my dismay Normally each Christmas, I make a trifle, Christmas ice cream (vanilla ice-cream combined with mixed fruit and nut, and chocolate) and then maybe a fruit salad. 1st birthday jungle cake

I have never been a massive fan of children. Anyone who knows me is aware of this and I was very sure to prep my family at an early stage that there might not be any grandkids. So when my best friend Ariane and her husband gave birth to their beautiful baby boy Nathan and asked me to be his Godmother my first reaction was “Ummm are you sure??” apparently they were! A year on and it was the little mans first birthday party on the weekend so in his honour, I decided to attempt making a cake. Cakes I can do, fondant covered cakes with fondant animals, I wasn’t so sure about. Fast forward a month and who the hell has time? Well that’s not true. Its not that I didn’t have time, it’s that I was meant to do a ‘dry run’ prior to the event and kept putting it off due to, well, laziness. So about two weeks before the event I had narrowed it down to either the cake with fondant (risky without a dry run) or some simple cake pops. Ding ding! We have a...

Mega Cupcake

I am a sucker for kitchen gadgets, especially those made of silicone. I don’t know what it is, silicone just gets me. Perhaps years of having everything stick to, well everything has scarred me for life. Along came the mega cupcake silicone mould. Its gadget, silicone, novelty and CAKE all rolled in to one. So, I had to have one. After waiting until they were suitably priced, I purchased one online and couldn’t wait for it to arrive. Finally my day had come, just in time for my mother’s birthday. Handy! Some die hard cake makers may want to block their ears, but I used packet mixes for lack of time. I purchased two as I had previously read the moulds can take a lot of batter. I settled on a butter cake base and a banana cake top. Wanting to use the filling facility, I decided to make...
