Stitch Bar

If you weren’t looking for it, you would walk right past it. Stitch Bar is located on York Street just past the corner of Barrack Street and is recognisable only by the old fashioned sewing machine propping the door open. As you walk in, you’re not 100% sure you are in the right place. It kind of looks like the simple foyer to an alteration joint. But that’s the point! The “foyer” section is decked out with old school sewing machines and lots of thread. When you head downstairs it’s like stepping in to a funky Melbourne bar and we are instantly happy that such places are in Sydney. We had booked ahead and were really glad we did. Our booking was for 5:15 and by 5:30/6:00 the place was packed. Rach had mentioned that they stop letting people in once it reaches seating capacity so that it doesn’t...

Pony Lounge & Dining

Rach and I had organised a girly catch up dinner and typically, it was the day it rained. We met promptly after work and made a quick trip to Priceline (when it wasn’t raining). Balcony Bar – Erskine St, Sydney

I love that Sydney is embracing the small bar culture and there just happen to be three within a stones throw of my work with more popping up each month! The atmosphere at Balcony Bar is relaxed and unpretentious, definitely a change from the bigger bars in the area that thrive on their pretentious clientele and (for want of a more ladylike word) wanky vibes. This blog is short and sweet (much like Balcony Bar) and purely to let you know to eat the Balmain Bug and Prawn Gnocchi if you go there. It’s amazing! A very beige looking dish upon arrival, this dish taught me never to be too judgemental as its all about the flavour. This little guy is packed with it and is right up there with one of the best dishes I have had in a very long time! Go. Eat. Enjoy!
