Raw Chocolate Ganache Tart – May’s SABH

Im soooooo excited about this months Sweet Adventures Blog Hop! As the hostess with the mostess this month, I got to choose the theme, and as you guys are aware, I chose raw! There was a little bit of confusion around the theme, but its something I have been looking in to since going veggie. There really is a whole world out there of food techniques and beliefs that I hadn’t even fathomed. After watching a raw dessert being made on an episode of Veg, I knew I had to try it. Its looked perfectly fudgy and decadent, but was completely raw, completely vegan, and completely good for you!! I KNOW RIGHT?!?! So Raw Chocolate Ganache Tart – May’s SABH Adapted from The River Cottage Ingredients Base: 175g walnuts 125g almonds 1 tsp salt 200g dates. Filling: 4 medium sized ripe avocados 150g virgin coconut oil 200g raw cacao powder....

Vintage Glam Mud Cupcakes – Happy Mother’s Day!

Vintage Glam Mud Cupcakes – Happy Mother’s Day!

Last year I made mum a Berry & Cream Cheese Pound Cake with Lemon Drizzle for Mother’s Day. A simple but very effective (she said it was one of my best) way of saying I love you, and thanks for putting up with me for 30 years. This year, I wanted to do something with a little more pizazz. Something that still says I love you, and thanks for putting up with me for 30 years, but also creates a sense of beauty with everyone it comes in contact with (with minimal effort of course). Last week I was given a box of Queens new Soft Sugar Pearls. You guys know cachous? They’re pretty much the same thing, only slightly larger and way softer – meaning you can consume more and not break a tooth….win! So I wanted to use these as a perfect way to add some old school...

SABH May announcement – Sweets Without Heat

Hello lovelies I’m back!!! With a couple extra kilos both on me and in my wardrobe, our trip to the US was pretty epic. Travelling to LA, NY, Vegas, San Fran, Oahu then finally Maui, its been a month long eating, drinking, shopping, exploring fest and we both loved every minute of it. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen pretty much a day by day photo diary of our entire trip. If you don’t, get on there now and have a look! Its way too much to explain in a blog post Anyway, Im back just in time to host this months Sweet Adventures Blog Hop! Yume Sushi – Gladesville

Yume Sushi – Gladesville

When I mention to people the name of my blog, they immediately look at Stud and then kind of put two and two together. Sometimes they get four, sometimes they get eight. Stud actually used to (well still does really) call me Studd as its part of my surname. So when creating Dining with a Stud, it really had a double meaning. However the other night, I realised that it also had a third! When I gave my card to Sarah – our waitress at Yume Sushi – she immediately gestured to her lip, and to the silver stud piercing I have in my lip. It had never even occurred to me! I kind of forget they’re there until someone stares at them while talking to me lol. They’re just part of my face now really. Stud and I were invited to try out Yume Sushi’s new Gladesville restaurant,...

Adults Only Creme Egg Cupcakes

I wasn’t sure I was going to make this months SABH. March has been a bit of a blur in the DWAS household. With Stud’s parents arriving the first weekend, Stud’s birthday the weekend after, a 5 night stint in Melbourne for Grand Prix and then our US trip next weekend, this was really the only free time we had to get everything in order ready for said trip…..and I got sick. Argh!!! Pity party over, I did decide to whip up a little batch of Easter cupcakes with a twist. Remember the ones I made last year? I thought I’d go with the same principal but make then a little nostalgic, and a little bit naughty(er). You see this months hop is a Cocktail Party theme, and in our trip to Melbourne last weekend, a night at Polly produced a “Violet Crumble Martini”. Yes, you read that right. It...

That's amore - Coda Melbourne

Around this time last year (pre vego/pesco change), I headed down to Melbourne for a girly weekend and caught up with a gorgeous little food blogger I had met at Eat Drink Blog. Her mission: show us her Town! The original plan was to head to Chin Chin however due to the first available table being at 11pm, it wasn’t to be. We were hungry, and we weren’t waiting! So we headed to Coda. I don’t want that at all to sound like it was a bad thing. Yes, it was our second choice, but upon entering, we were welcomed in and accommodated immediately, menus at the ready, and the last table in the joint. We ordered a glass of Prosecco while we pondered the menu, and decided on a bunch of dishes to share: That’s Amore Buffalo mozzarella, zucchini fritters, mint and pea salad Definitely the stand out...

Chocolate peanut butter “ice-cream”

Chocolate peanut butter ice-cream

Remember a little while ago I made that Angelic Hot Fudge Sauce? Simple, warming, delicious – and funnily enough, for a SABH! Well using similar ingredients, I’m flipping the temperature dial to cold – and I mean fuh-reez-ing – because this months Sweet Adventures Blog Hop is……Licence to Chill! I don’t know about you guys, but every time I say it (even in my head), I kind of do a “cool dude” voice. Its hard to explain, but it happens. I’m not proud of it. Anyway, the Feb hop is hosted by the lovely Heather over at The Capers of the Kitchen Crusader, so you can head over to her blog to find out all the deets on entering. But in the mean time, let me tell you a little about this dessert. So I’m kind of still on that health thing (a little more so now as the...

Nescafe Dolce Gusto

Nescafe Dolce Gusto

So I’m not a massive coffee connoisseur. I don’t claim to be. At all. I know what I like, and that usually involves at least two sugars (or equals…..you know, if they have them). You see I never really drank coffee at all, until Stud bought an at home pro coffee machine thingy and made me try every coffee until he’d perfected it. Seven coffees later and I had the worst coffee anxiety ever! But you know, at least he got the balance right. So now I’ll have the occasional coffee when we’re out, like the amazeballs latte I had at Cumulus Inc, but mostly just the coffees Stud makes at home. We have our little routine on weekends – we get up, I make brekkie and he makes the coffee, then we sit down and watch IQ until about midday when it’s time to face the day. I...

Coconut and Mango Sago

Coconut and Mango Sago

Stud and I aren’t massive beach people. We’re both pretty pale, aren’t a fan of screaming people, I have a bit of a sand phobia, and Kev has seen one too many Jaws films to want to go in to the ocean too often. Dont get me wrong, I used to LOVE the beach! Spending many a childhood weekends down the south coast in Gerringong, with my entire family squeezed in to a caravan and hanging out at the beach pretty much every day. I love swimming in the ocean, I just don’t like getting burnt or getting sand in my shoes, or anywhere for that matter (no really, the sand thing is pretty bad. Its embarrassing really). I do however, love a good tropical dessert! It might be a dessert with tropical ingredients – gorgeous fruits, creamy coconuts, refreshing ices – or it might be something wonderfully light...
